Home Improvements

Wow the chimney was not bad at all, but it was hot on the roof  yesterday. I only had to remove the first and part of the second rows. It is always good when you get to a chimney early so the repair is not bad.

Thanks you for the bonus last week of the painting. feel free to call anytime.

Painting At Pat & Davids house

Home Improvements

Painting at Miss Pat’s house is not spending time behind a canvas but scraping the sides of her house. Getting to spend time with Dave and his humorous feed back made the time enjoyable.

When painting I asked if I could fill some small rotten spots on the window sill with Rock Hard Putty. Then saw a back window that a previous owners dog had scratched the sill to a rounded mess. I asked Dave to allow me to saw it off and replace it with a new piece of wood which I hand made from a 2×4 Dave had.

Also removed old antenna and filled holes in roof. As I was up there found that the chimney needs repaired before winter. Starting this one soon.

Ready for Move In!

I have been waiting for this day ~  the house is ready for move in.  The carpet is all in, the garage floor painted, all the appliances are in, the knobs and pulls are on the cabinets,  and many other details have been cared for.    I have visualized this house in my mind for over a year, and now it is really here.  I have wanted for a long time to build a home that would not only be beautiful and unique but that would also help people.  This home is the answer to so many “what if’s”. ( Like “what if my grandma who uses a walker wants to come and visit me” or “what if someday I need to use a wheelchair” or “what if I don’t want to move out of my house when I am older”.)

This home also offers incredible functionality.  Every detail of the house was carefully designed with a purpose.  The color choices and lighting are optimal for even those with visual impairments.  The floor plan affords accessibility and spaciousness.  There are  storage spaces and convenient closets strategically placed throughout the house.  Even the garage has a closet!  You will never feel cramped in this 3 bedroom home and you will never have to move.

I would love to show you all the other special details about this home.  Get in touch with me and we will schedule something.

Hidden Jewels

Wow!  The kitchen is out of this world now that all the crown molding and the appliances are in.  The dishwasher is cool!  It has stainless steel interior so it won’t stain.  And the fridge is off the hook.  It is a side by side with pull out shelves and a cool frozen pizza spot by the ice maker.  The in the door water is the best I have ever tasted.  The carpeting is laid in all the bedrooms and will be in the livingroom this week.  Scott painted the garage floor too which is really cool.  I think we will camp out there in the next couple of weekends.  Sierra is dying to try out the jacuzzi tubs and I can’t wait to be able to take a super long, hot shower with the endless water heater.  We also talked to a relator this weekend to get her input.

You must come see this house.  It has so many cool things I cant even talk about them all.  Every detail was put there with a purpose in mind.  Scott was thoughtful about the “what if’s” that people may encounter in their life like “what if my mom needs to be cared for” or “what if we need to have a wheelchair used in here” or “what if I have poor vision”.  There are all sorts of hidden jewels in the design of this house.  Come out and see for yourself.

Master Bath Elegance and Accessibility

The master bath is a masterpiece!

It all starts with the seamless floor through out the bathroom and into the roll in shower.  There is just the right texture to prevent slipping. The vanity has this awesome lower section with a huge drawer to keep your grooming supplies and makeup.

The true gem of this bathroom is the double headed roll in shower and the jacuzzi tub.  The tub ledge has  a custom built corner seat for to sit on while you  shower.  With the tankless hot water heater you can take a long, therapeutic shower and never run out of hot water.  And I mean never.

Natural light just pours in through the glass brick window and illuminates the glass brick wall that separates the shower from the vanity.  When the sun is setting at just the right time, there are even little rainbows on the wall.  The pictures just don’t do this room justice.

As an occupational therapist, I am most excited about the accessibility of this room.  Anyone in a wheelchair will navigate this room with ease.  No tight spaces to access the toilet, a shower you can roll right into, a lower vanity space to work at… Everyone will love the spacious design and the elegant features.

With the crown molding on the kitchen cabinets and the drawer/shelf configuration complete, you can really see the project coming together.  The custom cabinets, all designed with accessibility and easy future modification in mind, are just one of the showcases of this house.  The drawer pulls and cabinet knobs will be ordered this week.

The cabinet builder, Curt Wolfe, has added a few special features of his own that make this a must see kitchen that every woman will LOVE.
